Kerala Battles Worst Flood in a Century

Rain and floods played destruction in Kerala and claimed thirty lives on Thursday destroying homes roads and Railway traffic in many places.

97 people have died in this rain-related incidents is the second spell of the monsoon which started on August 8. The weather already 55 lives in just 2 days. This is one of the worst flood in the state since 1924.

In difficult weather circumstances, Indian Navy started a lifting helpless people in Trichur Aluva and Muvattupuzha.

Under the directions from the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi the defense ministry just in fresh teams of 3 subgroups of the military for relief and rescue operations in the state where 1.5 lacs homeless people are taking shelter in relief camps.

14 districts of the state are on high alert

Narendra Modi already spoke to the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan this morning and promised him of all the central help in tackling this current situation.

He already tweeted that “we have discussed the situation in the state. Ask for defense ministry to step up for the rescue and relief operation and praying for the protection and the well being of the people of Kerala”.

35 teams of national disaster response force were sent to Kerala.

The national crisis Management Committee the head body for handling the emergency situations met in New Delhi to take the responsibility to save the people of Kerala from worst floods in the decade.

Taking record of this current position the Supreme Court ordered the disaster management panel of the Mullaperiyar Dam to decide on lowering the water level by 30 feet 2 139 feet.
